Assessment of the Sporting landscape of Trinidad and Tobago

It was the 18th December 2015 when I had visited Hasley Crawford Stadium; I had been there for consultation with National governing bodies (NGBs).  At 10 AM a press conference was scheduled and I was there to address that press conference.

Since my appointment in September 2015, I was clear in my mind and completely determined to meet the executives of all the ministry’s stakeholders in youth and sport to determine their challenges and how the ministry could assist them in achieving the short and long term goals for participation, inclusion and podium success.

After completion of 100 days of my office I had made a thorough assessment of the sporting landscape. This assessment brought many things in light on which we needed to work with specific focus on the Rio Olympics games. I had put forward my vision for the advancement of sports in Trinidad and Tobago during my office term.

People from the press had been already invited to cover the press conference, which was also be attended by representatives of 8 NGBs, the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry Ms. Joan Mendez.
